The Wallace Collection's permanent collection
A guide to The Wallace Collection's permanent collection
The original Wallace Collection was bequeathed by Lady Wallace to the British nation in 1897, and has been open to the public since 1900. Collected by the first four Marquesses of Hertford and Sir Richard between 1760 and 1880, the permanent collection contains works from several Dutch Masters, including Hals famous Laughing Cavalier, artists such as Titian and Velazquez, alongside a collection of 18th century French paintings, furniture, armour, ceramics, sculptures and miniatures.
